What is PDT?
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a used to improve the appearance of mild to severe sun damaged, oily, blemished and aged skin on all areas of the body. Metvix PDT can be used to treat some superficial spreading skin cancers in cosmetically sensitive areas.
By using PDT’s light technology, LED light, we can now use PDT as an option which is suitable for a range of skin conditions in a fast, relatively painless and affordable way with minimal side effects and downtime.

How does PDT work?
A photo active substance (made naturally by the human body) is applied to the affected area (eg face, arms, scalp etc). When exposed to light, the abnormal skin cells are destroyed to reveal new, fresh, healthy skin cells.

What is Acne?
Acne happens when the oil glands (pores) in the skin become blocked. Hormones make the oil glands produce more oil (sebum) and if the pores are blocked, a build-up occurs and you’ve got acne.

Botox Injections & Dermal Fillers
Types of Injectables
Facial wrinkles and lines can be reduced with cosmetic injections into the skin. The two main types of injectable substances used are botulinum toxin type A and dermal fillers.
Botulinum toxin type A
Botulinum toxin type A is given by intramuscular (IM) injection to weaken muscles in the face and lessen the lines associated with facial expression. The toxin relaxes the underlying muscle and allows the skin to flatten out.
This relaxes the muscles that cause unwanted lines and wrinkles & reduces their appearance. Anti-wrinkle injections are non-surgical micro injections which takes about 15 mins to perform.
Derma Fillers
As our skin ages, the skin gradually loses its stretch elements (collagen and elastin) and its volume (hyaluronic acid and fat). Dermal fillers are used to help reverse the changes associated with aging.
When dermal fillers or gels are injected under the surface of the skin, your own framework is strengthened and becomes more plumped. Dermal fillers also act to stimulate the body to produce collagen.
Three to six weeks post-treatment the area injected slowly builds up collagen, gains more volume and unwanted lines and wrinkles gradually diminish as the skin thickens
Radiosurgery
When tiny blood vessels or capillaries dilate they become noticeable.
These spider veins or broken capillaries on the face are most common on the central area of the face, the cheeks, nose and temples and below the eyes.
They can look like a series of lines, tree branches or a spider-web pattern. Their color is usually red, but some larger lesions may be bluish.

The Dynamic Cooling Device on this laser chills treated skin, increasing patient safety whilst dramatically decreasing pain levels. Laser Process
Unlike IPL or intense pulse light, laser hair removal emits a precise, focused wavelength of light to target the hair follicle. Most hair removal clinics use IPL or SIPL technology, however laser treatments are more effective and therefore require fewer treatments.
Laser hair removal typically requires between 4-10 treatments, depending on your skin type, hair type and hair location. Upper lip and facial hair respond to fewer treatment sessions, whist thicker, wiry hair on the chest and back may require more sessions.
The reason why a series of treatments are required is due to the fact that hairs are disabled and destroyed only in the active phase of growth. At any given time, hairs are in different growth phases, making one treatment of laser hair removal impossible to destroy all hair follicles.

SCAR REVISION
What is Scarring?
Scarring is the result of an abnormal pattern of healing in previously injured skin. Scars occur due to injury to the deeper layers of the skin (dermal layer or deeper).
Depending on the nature of scarring and the body’s response, scars maybe hypertrophic/ keloid (raised scars) or atrophic (depressed). Essentially, in hypertrophic/keloid scarring- too much collagen is formed, whilst in atrophic/ depressed scars, not enough collagen is generated.
What is Scar Revision?
Scars are in the deeper layers of the skin know as the dermis.
- Depending on the nature of scarring, different treatments are needed.
- If approached in the correct manner scar revision can be very successful.
- Hypertrophic scars and keloid scars are as a result of excessive scar formation secondary to overzealous collagen production.
- Atrophic scars are depressions in the skin caused by destruction of collagen during the course of inflammatory skin conditions such as chicken pox and acne.
- Atrophic scars and acne scars can be treated with fractioned laser, subscision, chemical peels and fillers.
- Surgical and traumatic scars can be treated with a combination of injections and laser resurfacing

FACIAL REJUVENATION
What is Sublative Resurfacing?
Sublative™ for skin rejuvenation, uses fractionated bi-polar radio frequency technology places the heat energy effectively into the upper dermis where it can produce a significant increase in both collagen and elastin with minimal epidermal disruption.
eTwo’s applications provide for a wide range of treatments—both fine and deep wrinkle treatments, improved texture, tone, laxity, acne scars, scars and striae.
How does Sublative™ work?
The ergonomic Sublative™ applicator delivers bipolar radio frequency energy via a matrix of electrodes in the disposable applicator tip. This fractional delivery of RF energy causes microepidermal ablative injuries with wider spread dermal injury. This initiates a strong wound healing response in the dermal matrix while also minimizing the damage to the epidermis.
Less affected tissue surrounding the matrix points may be stimulated by heat which helps accelerate the healing process, leading to a smoother, rejuvenated appearance of the skin. Mild to moderate wrinkles and superficial skin discoloration are reduced, and skin texture becomes more smooth and elastic.
Can all areas be treated?
The Sublative RF applicator comes with multiple tip configurations for various treatment protocols – 64 pin tips for fast full face improved skin tone and texture, as well as the 44 pin tip for smaller areas and focused treatments of under-eye laxity, wrinkles around the mouth and forehead wrinkles.

How is the Sublative™ treatment tolerated by patients?
During treatment, many patients feel a warm, prickly sensation. After treatment a pink or “sunburn” appearance and feeling is common. Topical anaesthetic and cooling are often used to reduce discomfort during treatment.
Is there downtime?
There is minimal downtime with a maximum expected downtime of 2 or 3 days. Most patients can quickly resume their normal activities immediately post treatment.
Spider Vein Reduction
Laser therapy is a proven, non-invasive and safe treatment for the condition Telangiectasia, commonly known as ‘Spider Viens’ – red facial veins as well as the blue, red or purple leg veins.
Our clinic can treat most veins through a combination or laser vein therapy and/or Sclerotherapy.The lasers work by emitting light through the skin that is absorbed by the blood in the vessels. The laser then causes the vein to break up and disappear. With laser vein therapy, there is no compression stocking or injection needed for treatment.
A few treatments may be necessary depending on the vein. It normally takes between 8-12 weeks for the body to absorb the blood vessel.
Often times, the small spider veins are a result of a deeper feeder vein allowing for blood to branch off into tiny vessels. In this case, Sclerotherapy will be recommended to stop the feeder vein first, followed by laser vein therapy for the smaller, more superficial veins.
